Why the Eastern Sierra
is right for a natural pool

Our award-winning fieldstone waterfall — built for the San Francisco Garden Show — was directly inspired by the granite and cascading water of the Sierra Nevada. We understand this landscape, and we understand what it takes to build in it.

Built for Freeze-Thaw Cycles

High-altitude winters mean real freeze-thaw stress. We engineer plumbing depth, liner selection and drainage specifically for Eastern Sierra winters, so your pool survives the off-season intact.

Resort & Vacation Properties

Mammoth's second-home and vacation-rental market rewards a standout outdoor feature. A natural pool photographs beautifully against granite peaks and pine forest — and sets a property apart.

A Short, Intense Swim Season

Mountain summers are short but bright. We design for rapid seasonal warm-up and can integrate a soaking tub or heated zone for shoulder-season use, extending the pool's usable months.

Alpine Materials & Planting

Granite boulders, native alpine and subalpine plant palettes, and cold-hardy aquatic species selected to actually survive — and thrive — at elevation.

Natural pool styles

Fieldstone waterfall pool inspired by the Sierra Nevada

Fieldstone & Waterfall

Cascading granite-inspired fieldstone waterfalls — the same style that won us the SF Garden Show award.

Naturalistic pool

Naturalistic Style

Free-form shapes and organic boulder work that reads as a natural mountain tarn, not a built pool.

Grotto plunge pool with hot tub

Grotto & Soaking Tub

A hidden hot tub behind a stone waterfall — ideal for extending use into the shoulder season at altitude.

Lake-scale water feature

Lake-Scale

Large-format natural pools or small lakes for expansive mountain-view properties.

How the design process works

All design work is completed remotely — no site visit required. On-site visits are available for Mammoth Lakes and Eastern Sierra projects on request.

1
Book a Design Consultation — €350

A focused one-hour video session reviewing your site, elevation, goals and design vision. Send site photos, aerial views, measurements and any existing plans before the call. Your fee is credited in full toward your design package.

2
Design Recommendation

We confirm the appropriate design tier, freeze-thaw engineering needs, and whether an on-site visit would add value.

3
Design Development

Full design developed remotely or with on-site input. All deliverables provided digitally in PDF and CAD formats — ready for your Mono County contractor.

4
On-Site Support (Optional)

For projects in Mammoth Lakes, June Lake and Bishop — on-site consultation and design review visits are available. Contact us to discuss.

Frequently asked questions

Do you design natural pools for Mammoth Lakes and the Eastern Sierra?

Yes — we offer both remote design services and on-site consultation for Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, Bishop and the surrounding high country.

Can a natural pool survive Sierra winters?

Yes, when engineered correctly. We specify plumbing depth, drainage and liner systems specifically for freeze-thaw cycles at elevation, so the system survives winter dormancy intact.

Can a local Mono County contractor build from your designs?

Yes. Our design documentation is contractor-independent and written to be followed by any licensed local pool contractor or landscape architect. We are happy to liaise directly with your contractor during the design phase.

How does payment work?

All consultations and design packages are paid securely online via Stripe. We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
